Loft Insulation and Loft Boarding is one of the best ways of keeping your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer, but what some people don't realise when boarding a loft themselves is you must not screw loft boards directly to your rafters as it completely crushes the U values of your insulation, rendering it pretty useless. Below you can see what we do and why.

When we insulate and board your loft we create a platform screwing 170mm loft legs to your rafters then topping up the insulation giving a total of 270mm of insulation. The reason we install the loft legs is because it doesn't squash your insulation and it leaves all the necessary air pockets that make the insulation do its job properly. We then create a platform on top of the legs using 18mm Structural OSB giving the insulation room to do its job properly and giving you a fantastic amount of storage space.
